Please some advice on where to start . I have a 07 Z1000 about 25xxxx on the odometer , I recently had to replace the fuel pump and gas tank, and just to be safe the fuel injectors, due to rust in the tank after all that, when I went to start it sounds like there is no compression.Is there anything that I could of unplugged while taking out the throttle body's, maybe ? I also removed the fuel pump relay for a period of time while the battery was unhooked for about a week.

Hi friend, was the bike running before you replaced the parts?

The bike was running ,there was a lot of backfiring upon throttle release ,it got so bad to the point that it would just completely cut out if wide open throttle was applied . That was the reason a friend of m oh ne suggested that it could be a dirty injector and suggested to just run it hoping it would clean itself out . But after that it would not even fire up . I tried starting fluid with not even a cough.

Did you follow the proper procedures from the factory service manual for servicing the fuel system? The factory manual will also have diagnostic procedures to determine where the fault may lie. There is likely a forum for the fuel injected Z1000 that may have a downloadable fsm and some members who have a lot of experience with that particular system.

There are quite a few helpful folks here, but the focus is on the air cooled, carbureted KZ series. If a member here also has some expertise with your problem, he or she should be along soon.

Have you checked to be sure that the starter is in fact turning the crankshaft? It is possible that the starter clutch has failed, and the starter is just freely spinning, though the starter clutch typically makes a good bit of racket before packing in.

I recently took out all the plugs and coverd the holes with my hand and there was some pressure out of them but after I put them back in it was the same problem. But thanks for the heads up about the forum being for carbs and air cooled bikes .

Do you know what work has been done on the bike before?
You probably should start with a compression test. Then go from there.

From what I can tell the bike has been down and someone else put it back together with various parts from another bike. It still has a clean title and that's what gave me the idea that it was a clean bike. As far as other maintenance I have no idea. Just what I've done to it .
New plugs,
New chain
New injectors
New fuel pump
New tire.

look at page 3-39 of the service manual.
Pull your diagnostic trouble codes. It may give you some idea of what is wrong.

If I ran it hard thinking that the injectors were going to clean themselves out with say some marvel oil and the gap was off the plugs by 1/4of MM ,would that do damage to the valves , which in turn do damage to the compression maybe?

I cant get the cluster to go into dfi mode. Mode only changes the 0do. Nothing else.

I'm not sure if your codes got cleared when you pulled the battery cable.
Anyway, I would focus on getting the ignition to fire. You can figure out the compression later.
You need spark.
Is there is a possibility that you disconnected a ground wire and forgot to reconnect it?

There is spark I tested that with a screw driver against the frame the 1cylinder and the 4 cylinder both had it I only assumed that the middle two had it also. The ground wire I thought about too but I looked at ever hanging wire , I ohmed out the ecu wiring and that's good would a possible ecu going bad keep it from firing? I even put it in first gear CV arolled the tire and it felt like there was some compression still, maybe a bad stator? Or stuck bendix gear in the starter?
