650 clutch issue

650 clutch issue

hey guys i am having trouble getting my 78 kz650 started, the clutch will spin when i try and kick start it but the timing chain and valves don't move, any help is appreciated ty!!

By any chance are you pulling in the clutch lever? Ed

That's the problem to the answer, neutral, clutch out, choke lifted, gas on, kick in a downward motion leaving throttle alone, and as long as everything is ok it will start.

To kicksart the kz650 it has to be in neutral with no clutch. With clutch pulled all your doing id spinning the transmission.

That's the problem. Don't pull in the clutch lever when kick starting the bike. Do pull in the clutch lever when using the electric starter. Ed

so i kicked the bike and it is cycling through the cylinders however the clutch is still spinning a considerable amount, any thoughts?

Is the clutch spinning more than the output shaft of the transmission? Can you post a short video?
