Porting

What do you guys think of this porting?

There's a guy on KZ Market who is converting a turbo to this.
"We spent all day getting the Z1R back together. It was a turbo ( not original ) now it's a 1197 MTC 10.5:1 big 900 head w/ lots of port work 485 cams, flatslides , all billet gears , copper gaskets. Bigger intake valve , under buckets and all evening trying to get it to fire. We pushed it up and down the street till darkness got us but back at it tomorrow. Once it fires and cuts in the rings it'll be fine. Running pics to follow. Tips to start it would be helpful :) it almost hit but not enough"

Maybe it's just the picture, but it doesn't look like the carb boots/head junction is very smooth.
Don't be ridiculous! It's only a flesh wound!

I would really question this man's mechanical ability. If you put together a brand new fresh motor and it won't start even after pushing it up and down the street all day!! That really scares me. Everything I ever put together started in 2 to 5 kicks!!!

My cylinder head guru got a real kick out of his line, "Once it fires and cuts in the rings, it will be fine" I wonder about the funny dark stripes in his freshly honed cylinder myself. Never seen that before in a properly honed cylinder!!!!

I have never had ANY problems getting a fresh built motor to fire

Same here.
Never had one not start on the first or second kick once everything has been set and primed.
If it won't fire after a few kicks or spins on the starter there's something wrong.

With a valve lift of 12,32 mm and one link off the cam chain timing the valves are bent. In my opinion they didn“t have check the valve to piston clearance first.
Cylinder head deck high looks like to much milled/cut down to the intake valve seat ring area, (oval shape).

Waiting for the next steps of the engine build.

I think you're right. With the turbo build and low compression pistons, it might have been fine. Could have bent the intake valves on first kick. :pinch:

The honing looks like they just let a ball hone run in there. It takes a bit of skill to get a good crosshatch. Not that it would keep it from running.
