Piston Ring Compressor
15 Oct 2019 09:32
I was bouncing around the internet and found these piston ring compressors for sale at an English motorcycle parts shop. Has anyone ever used these on a piston install? They are available in a variety of sizes. Thanks...

i've used these.
used it on a gpz1100. problem is getting it off because the cylinder studs are so close to the piston.

Can I assume it worked okay other than getting it off and out of the way? Yours looks like a somewhat different design. The one I saw seems to come apart a bit easier.

Rick I bought four of them last winter when I was about to refit the cylinder to my Gpz750.
They were not to much help, the material is to thick so they lose their shape when compressed and were hard to get to slide, even though I sanded them.
Got the cylinder on but found myself using my nails in the end anyway. It might be that it requires more practice and they probably works great on a 2 cyl engine, but was not impressed. Only good thing I have to say is that they were cheap, then again I got what I paid for.

they worked fine because the width compressed all 3 rings. when you loosened the clamp, the size and the bend of the bolt made you force it past the stud.
