I found a mystery hand-bent Yoshimura exhaust at the junk yard the other day, but now I need to figure out what bike it is for. I have compared it to a Suzuki gs1000 header I have and the spacing is virtually identical, but the Suzuki has a much different downtube angle than the Yoshi exhaust. I know that the Suzuki's have a more forward leaning cylinder block and head, so this leads me to believe this exhaust is for a Kawasaki. But I just need to confirm the actual exhaust port spacing for a kz900 or 1000 exhaust header. If anyone could help me with this I would be very grateful!
Thanks in advance!!

On a Z1 head measured with a vernier caliper...
1 - 2 and 3 - 4 = ~94mm.
2 - 3 = ~125mm.

Thank you!
That certainly corresponds with the measurements I took from the header.

Yes, go buy it if you have not yet!!! Tell the Yard you will give him $25 bucks for the rusty thing!
Then sand blast, acid dip, ceramic coat a nice silver or black finish. Then sell it for $400-$500.
That's what I would do. I have no use for one. I would just invest into it!

That is exactly what I did! I got the hand-bent and another early Yoshimura pipe for a gpz550 for $80.

I have zero use for the hand-bent exhaust so I will media blast and recoat it for resale to a good home. I “think” it is for the Z-1 as all the vintage Yoshimura literature only lists the hand bent exhausts being available for the Z-1, cb750’s and assorted Suzuki’s.
I just couldn’t stand to see either sit in the junk yard. They need to be restored and used.

I am soaking the slip joint joints on both with an ATF/acetone/pb plaster mixture to see if I can get the sections to separate. When/if I get them to separate, then they are off to get media blasted. I will then also need to make or find a replica baffle for the hand-bent pipe as it has a ghetto hand made one at the moment.
