Transmission issues

Ok guys before yesterday my 81 kz650 csr would shift through all the gears fine while moving now after I removed the side cover and cleaned a few things I put it back on and for sone reason the bike now acts like its sitting still and wont shift out of 1st I'll get it going ill go to shift and instead of going into 2nd it goes into neutral for no reason I need help here I'm hoping it's an easy fix considering my transmission was solid it never slipped or anything now it acts like ifs sitting still and wont shift into 2nd

Normal its the Neutral finder function.

Ok so I finally got it to work I jerked the bike like he'll in first and it finnaly let me have the rest of the gears
