Starter compatibility

Hi,
My brother and I recently picked up a project 1979 KZ650. The engine is partially disassembled, so we figured getting a complete used engine was the quickest and least expensive route to a running bike.
We found an ‘82 KZ750 engine, complete minus the starter.
Will the starter from the 650 work with the 750 engine?
