Best 1000?

What year 1000 is considered to have the best motor?I'm starting to look for a 1000 and heard the J motor is the best.Is this true?

Tough question monty732...'best' is a matter of perspective with a modicum of personal choice:) It really depends on what your intentions for the bike are, how you ride, and what modifications (if any) you intend.

i'm thinking full rebuild,hotter cam,head work.It would be more of a "bar hopper"type bike.I'm also thinking widened swing arm or using sport bike parts.

Best "bar hopper" type bike is a bicycle or a moped. Period. You might live or atleast the rest of us and our famlies have a better chance. Wise up!

CHeck out prices for engines and parts on ebay. I suspect you'll find the 'J's are a good bit less expensive.

Why not go against the grain and put together a sub-$100 half litre ratbike for bar hopping. It would really stand out in all the bling.

monty, check your u2u. don't worry everyone, i'm also from rochester so i'll have to meet him and punish him for putting up somthing like "bar-hopper"i think donating $50 to the sight and a 810 kit to me should be a suitable punishment. any objections?

Modprod did you read the post?It says "bar hopper TYPE(as in not for long hauls).Maybe you should "wise up"and read what the post says before accusing someone of DWI?I've got a few posts here and someone's bagging on me already?!If this is any indication of the members here(and I hope it's not)it's a shame.Flame away I won't waste my time logging in here anymore.Oh well.

I like the k motors myself. They are a little harder to find parts for and there tempermental but as far as bar hopper it never fails to have someone come over and ask me what is that, or i use to have one of those.
