Vance & Hines pipes

My 1979 KZ1000 LTD came with Vance & Hines 4 into 1 pipes on it. I can't seem to find any date on what it does for the performance. Increase in HP, etc. Does anyone know what it might be?

Well...not to be flippant...but 4into1 pipes alone only make you sound faster. Actual increases in HP are negligible...real, but negligible. Substantive increases in HP requires changes in carbs and motor work.

No problem Michael. Actually, I have the stock pipes and may put them back on because the bike has all the power I need and then some. I'm planning on just puttering around.

If you have the stock airbox in place, return to the stock exhaust system and your bike will run it's absolute best.

Would be interesting to know the weight difference between the stock system and the V&H 4>1.

Yes it would be interesting to know. If I do switch the pipes, I will try and remember to weigh each set when they are off the bike.
