Connecting Rod

I need some help with a connecting rod for a 1981 KZ650 H1 (CSR)

My engine sounds like a small diesel. I traced the problem back to the #2 Connecting rod top. The piston would actually tip from side to side. I am not sure which rod it is: H, J, I.

Anyone know what rod it is?, (I will look as soon as I can)

Anyone got a spare?

Please PM

You sure it's not just the wrist pin? Mike the wrist pin to see if it's worn out and causing the problem.
If you don't have a micrometer take the wrist pin and try it on another rod, if it rocks on the other rod then it's the wrist pin.

The pistons and pins were new, about 1100 miles on them now, and I tried as you suggested, and it is def. the rod top. Just wanted to get the replacement before I pulled the motor off the frame and split the case. (Assuming you cannot get to the rod bolts by removing the oil pan, and stuff in the way)

I cannot find any marks identifying the rod. there is a 402s but not much more, anyone know WHERE on the rod the letter that identifies it is located?

Have you checked the FileBase? It's under "KZ information" at the top. I believe Murphyau posted an excellent article on a 650 rebuild that will probably cover it.
