Yea, it's me again. The perpetual question-asker.
I REALLY need to make some more room in my garage before my wife kicks me and the bikes out!:silly: With some serious thought, I've decided that an engine stand would go a long way in making some room in the garage. Right now, I'm using a shortened 4x6 sheet of plywood supported by 5 or 6 cinder blocks as my assembly bench. I think an engine stand would be just what I need.
Do any members here use an engine stand like the car guys have? Could something like this be modified to accept an inline four?
Any help/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Jim

I used to make those. We recently needed one for a Hayabusa R&D motor, so we bought a auto stand like pictured, took it and a set of cases to the welding shop and had the guy make a custom head that fit the stand. Works very well. If you do it, make sure you have a brace on the top case so that you can turn it upside down with onld the top half case on it and lay the crank and transmission in.

K&L Supply sells a "K&L MC25 Metric Engine Stand" for bike engines. I think it isn't too expensive and once the engine is bolted in place, you can flip it over for access to the transmission. Jeff at www.z1enterprises.com is a K&L dealer and can give you a price as I doubt he would have a professional shop tool like this on his web site. It is K&L P/N 37-9352. The stand is very adjustable, if the pictures don't lie, and K&L claims it will hold both V-Twins and inline fours and even inline 6s...

As usual, WG has come through again. Thanks.
I looked for three days on the net for an engine stand but came away with nothing. Then WG told me about this piece; says I can order it from Jeff @ Z1Enterprises.
Man! You gotta check this tool out!
Thanks again, WG

Wow, that IS a sweet looking stand!

Shame they don't list the price on their website though.
Guess we'll just have to wait for Jim to see what Jeff at Z1 can get him one for.

Jeff used to have that listed on his site, and he has mentioned it here in the past.
IIRC, it was somewhere around $250-$300, but I could be way off :)

I'm about to find out. I'll post the price when I find out.B)
I also ordered one of these from Pingel yeaterday. I may not be an engine-building guru, but at least my garage/shop will look the part!
