Sealant for carb holders to engine

This could go carb or engine forum I suppose, anyway....
I have read several times in the archives about using RTV black to seal the carb holders to the engine. I went through my tubes and eliminated my Permatex 2 form a gasket and the Permatex Red hi-temp was tempting but seems to be more of an outdoor application. The last tube that I have is Permatex ultra grey. It's oil resistant, has serious vibration resistance and a heat resistance up to 650 degrees. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use ultra grey to seal my carb holders instead of the Loctite RTV black, that only goes up to 400 degree heat resistance?

I've used the red hi-temp in the past and it's been just fine.

I use the Ultra Grey and have suffered no apparent problems. I also smear a little vaseline inside the boots before i refit the carbs. Seems to help the refit process.

Ultra Grey is the best

you can also mix in some thinner and brush it on your tank and side covers to make a very cool looking finish.

it is very durable and cheaper than most spray paints.

it also helps to sprinkle a little sand on it while it is wet on the tank to make it a non-slip surface for those that like to drive real peg scraping crazy.

Quick question, how hard is it (generally) to remove the old boots. Mine are old and probably have never had any moron superglueing them on--how hard have you found them to be coming off?
