how big can I go with stock sleeves?
18 Apr 2006 21:52
Hey gang, some questions for all the engine builders out there. How big of a bore can I go with stock kz750 sleeves?
the wiseco 810 kit (69mm) is fine with stock sleeves, but the aries 880 kit (72mm) requires bigger sleeves.
is there a piston size inbetween that could work without bigger sleeves? I was thinking of stock kz1000 pistons (70mm). is that just under the limit, or is 69mm the max? what would it take to get the 1000 pistons to work besides a 70mm bore? Im assuming there would be a few things...
how big would this setup be if it would work, about an 820-840cc?
thanks
Scott

650s have 15mm wrist pins. KZ1000 has 17mm.

I don't think I would bore the stock sleeves beyond that needed for the 810 kit, I think they would be awful thin and ring seal would be a problem.

Yeah if you want more than 810 you should re-sleeve it but all you'd get is another 80 cc's or so.
