Gpz 550 Clutch Problems

Alright here's the deal I adjust the clutch by insturctions(loosening locknut, counterclockwise till firm, then 1/4 clockwise, tighten locknut). Then I go to adjust the play up by the lever and also the midway little thing, and no matter how far out I move it there is no play on the clutch, it is just like a limp arm. Is the cable strectched? Any solutions? Something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
Nate

Could the cable be seperated/broke, or maybe not attached to the clutch shaft under the side cover?

Questions:

Do you have a Factory Service Manual?
.....there are great pictures of this mechanism in the manual

What year and exact model GPz do you have?
.....if you include this info in your profile signature it will be easier for members to help you out
.....there are a couple different variations of the ball bearing unit

The ball bearing goes between the long push rod and the short push rod .It is there to make the clutch easier to operate . The Servive manual is wrong ,, I have a Clymers and what you really want to do is Loosen everything up , Back off the cable adjustments all the way in ,, Then go and adjust the screw in the side cover not in but OUT ,, then in a half a turn in tighten the lock nut ,, this will seat the cam and three balls mechanizem inside the case You will then take out the slack of the cables by the adjuster in the middle of the cable or the thumb screw at the lever .. I had problems with this on my 81 KZ550 a couple of weeks ago .. :)

No I do not have a factory service manual I have a haynes manual. I would like to know how that ball bearing plate actually is supposed to fit in the housing?

Thanks,
Nate
