My No. 1 cylinder exhaust port has been leaking for a while. I bought new copper crush gaskets, and put one in, and the pipe was nice & tight. But the bike sounded the same. I traced the noise to No. 1. Huh!
Well, I put my old gasket in with the new one and put the pipe back on. I didn't think the collar would sock up, and it looked like I was going to have too much thickness in the doubled-up gasket. But the collar tighend up, and seated OK.
Big difference in the sound! Sounds like a self-respecting saki-burner now.
Thanks to you guys for the double-up tip, it's in my bag of tricks from now on.
