On the cam shaft end plugs what type of sealent is used to hold them in? And do you use sealent on the cam cover gasket?

I smeared a thin film of high temp sealant, whatever was on my toolbench. I believe it was Permatex, an orange color..it may have been the hi temp copper sealant. They don't leak. And I applied a thin film of grease to both sides of the cam cover gasket, and it's not leaking either.
