Z1 4 into 4 exhaust system
03 Dec 2008 04:08
Has anybody here purchased a set of reproduction 4 into 4 pipes for an early 900 Z1 (1974?)from Z1 enterprises? If so, can you comment on the quality etc? I have done business with them and my experiences have been very good. But, while I'm deciding when and if to cut loose the funds to purchase the system, I'm looking for some feed back from folks that already have them.
Thanks
Ed

You might have a better response if you posted this question on the MSN Z1/Z900 owners group...a number of folks on that site have purchased those pipes from Jeff and they seem to be uniformly pleased...I know that I will be buying a set from Jeff for my Z2 (as soon as my wallet is repopulated:laugh:   )

Yes, I bought a set in mid 2003 from Sudco.com but I believe they are the same ones offered by Z1 Enterprises. They are virtually identical to stock. I think they are made by the same company that made them for Kawasaki in the early 1970s, the delivery carton said "Kawasaki, Japan" on it. Don't forget to order those little copper gaskets, they need to be replaced when old pipes are removed. Mine is a 1973 model and there are no stampings of any kind on the stock pipes, I have heard on later models there was some numbers or text stamped somewhere on the pipes. I kept the old rusty and dented ones, actually I have two complete sets I couldn't bring myself to discard, and you can't tell any difference.I guess they are pretty expensive now, I paid over a grand 8 years ago, but know what? It was worth it. Don't dump the bike and keep water out when washing and they'll last forever.
