do i need the chain splitter to remove my cam chain?

Prop the chain up,away from the engine...cover the engine with rags to keep anything from getting in,and use a mini-grinder(or a dremel).

Definitely grind away at the two pins you are wanting to remove first. Makes removal much easier. Just like when you remove a link from your drive chain, but in a smaller case.

I've jus replaced mine and had a few issues with the tool.
