Attachment CloseCall-WedgeTailedEagle.mov not found

Almost took a Wedge Tailed Eagle for a ride this morning - would have seen how tough my leather jacket is if it had of grabbed hold.
Couldnt get the clip to play directly from Post - just open and play - hope that works.

Phew!
close one for sure. Big bird and you were doing a reasonable, speed (90 kph ?). A collision could have left you with a few bruises . Thrown you even
Are they a rare bird ? We see the very odd bald eagle here. Protected species.

JR wasn't sure if the Vid worked - first time i have tried that.
Probably shouldn't have been a dickhead and passed over double whites "BUT" i had 40 km of twisties and a volvo in front of me.It was about 90 kph - cam is at a angle so distorts it a little.
Not sure what would have happened if it was a few inches closer.
Wedgies are not rare on the mainland - there are about 200 pairs left in Tasmania - they are also in New Guinea.
They are protected but they used to shoot them like rabbits. They would carry off lambs - small livestock so the farmers were not impressed. It seems the Bald Eagles wingspan is about 1 inch bigger - according to Net anyway.
No change of underwear which was surprising B)

Worked for me,thanks for posting.

My wife had a close call with a Turkey Vulture last year, it got up about head level and turn back into her path,
she kinda freaked out and stiffened up , luckily the bird missed her head by a foot or two.
I was behind her watching the whole thing :woohoo:

I remember a dog crossing the road right in front of me while on my Z1 at 125 mph a long time ago - that was far too close for any comfort!

Steve - did you try Right click and open link in new tab - takes a few seconds to kick in mate. Tried Mp4 - no good anyway, AVI and WMV but site seemed happiest with Mov.
Much reduced quality it is also due to size limit. If that doesnt work i can try something else.I was running it through VLC player not that it should make any diff.
bj58 - a Turkey Vulture would be even bigger than the Eagle wouldn't it ? I didnt react - just stayed as i was - couldnt do much - just hoping it didnt want to go for a ride with me.
BB - reckon i would have a "very soft" ride after that one

Since i got the bike cam a few weeks ago it seems all the animals want to be stars - i got another in the same day - havnt processed it yet - will post in a few hours.
Only thing i have ever hit in 32 years was an bird called a "Galah" - a small member of the Cockatoo family. Looked like i just rode through a talcum factory.

I was riding to the nearest store from Hole in the hills on the logging road when I hear a rustling noise in the brush to my right and a deer came out of the ravine, ran along beside me, then crossed it front of me just that quick. No time to react. I was doing around 25-30 MPH. MAN. The last thing I want to do is get tangled up with a huge RAT 25 Miles from anywhere. I learned to dislike them. In fact I shot one and gave away the meat.

We have the white tail deer about the place but are rarely seen.
Like deer but i couldn't eat a whole one :) .
Have hit a huge rat dead centre coming at about 120 km out of sugar cane field up north - soft speed bump - as big as you would want to collide with though.
Steve any luck opening that vid ?

I consider deer rats. They eat everything, are mean and stink. I did a 3/4 mile 6" PVC pipe line to the cabin. I made tressels across the ravines. On the longest one I made it wide enough to walk on. I'd sit there and noticed they would walk buy and not look up. Like shooting ducks in a barrel. I hate deer meat so I didn't bag any more. Bossie was great going to and from town. She could handle 9% dirt grades and get around most anything. I defy a HD bagger to try that.
I have to download a APP to open your video.

Actually Steve i have rarely eaten venison - bloody dry cardboardy stuff - bit like kangaroo - awful.
Kangaroos are our huge rats.
That sounds like a pretty sweet place in the mountains you have there mate.
HD's wouldnt go up there - they might scratch the paint or chrome.
VLC player seems to open just about anything.
