:woohoo: very stoked! I may have set a speed record cycling to the DMV. Forked about $700 for back charges and a plate. Got a cool number 19Z9990 B) then fired her up and rode all day. It was my first motorcycle ride ever and it felt great! At around 55-60mph (I assume, tho have no speedometer yet) the engine really relaxed and stopped whining, just purred! I'm pretty impressed that a bike older than me, and one that hasn't been ridden in 14 years, performs so well!
I did have one problem. About 20 miles in it died... Not sure but I think it was fuel failure. May need a new filter or maybe I just didn't have enough gas. Luckily I was able to coast into a gas station. Cooled off and filled up the tank and no more issues.
She still needs some work but looks very promising. Now I can seriously look at my plans to ride from California to Chicago in late August!

Feels good don't it B)

Ride the heck out of it before you make the trip and make sure you grease up everything.

Look me up when you get into town, I'll show you around.

You probably know this, but it may be worth making sure you know how the petcock works. You should have a 'reserve' setting that you'll switch to when the fuel level gets low. Then get your butt to a gas station and fill up.

Or better yet, fill up every hundred miles so you don't have to turn it to reserve .

That will save you sucking stuff from the bottom of the tank or having to replace the rubber valve gasket in the petcock like I just found out I have to do :pinch:

Luckily Kaw still sells them, around 13 bucks and they had to order it.

Yeah, good advice there! Once i get my Speedo cable I'll start watching the distance. I should have adjusted the petcock first but i sorta freaked out and assumed it was more serious.

Range anxiety is a definite problem with a small fuel tank. I don't like to be distracted thinking about how much fuel is in the tank, so I fill up every 65-85 miles or so.

If you do have go to reserve, don't forget to switch it back to 'on' after you fill up! DAMHIKT :S :(

Thanks P21' it's been kept inside a lot I think. I've been cleaning relentlessly but always more to do!

I need to replace the Mickey Mouse mirrors with a set that reaches further out and maybe less high. Any recommendations?

Bluej58, Martin_csr, I have the smallest gas tank of the csr family @12.4 liters or 3.2 gallons, but twice now my fuel light has come on at 1.4 gallons. The first time it may have gone into reserve (if that's what the problem was.) ever heard of that? Man I hope partzillausa gets my speedo cable shipped soon!
