You know it's getting too cold to ride when you go out for a Sunday morning ride and don't see another bike for the first 160 miles
Saturday was spent getting supply's, changing oil, going over the bike including a little cleaning
and finding a used leather jacket.
I hit every opened thrift shop, Salvation Army and pawn shop in the area , finally at the last stop before running out of time we hit a second hand store in Streator and found one that fit and had a flap over the zipper for 9 bucks
Not my color ( black ) but it fit nice with a hoodie underneath and has a good liner
The next morning I headed out about 5:15 am in 39 deg.weather with frost warnings
Luckily the roads I took were mostly straight and I took it real easy on the corners.
I was real glad to see the sun come up.
Made it to Turkey run by 10.30 am and find that I have a voice mail from George / Kool aid Kid
saying that they would be there by 11.30, cool, I made breakfast.
Then I get a text from Les and try to text him back, no reception
After around ten tries I finally get one out telling him I'm at the park
He shows up a little bit before the other guys and when they got there George is having charging trouble so we headed over to Les's to get things squared away.
George and his buddy Brian get to work on his bike and I get to pick Les's brain for about an hour
After the hand off and photo shoot we really didn't have time to go see all the cover bridges as planned so it was off to hook up with Ramtough , Rams better half, Kawiman80 and Jimmy on his sweet Motto Guzzie.
George's Buddy Brian on his Suzuki 850 with 117,00 miles on it led the way to Terra Haute He was tearing it up in the corners and had to wait for us a couple of times
Hey I'm 300 miles from ohm " F " that I'm taking it easy
Get to the DQ on the South side and Ram calls us from the DQ on the North side, who knew
We must of passed each other
Any way Ram and crew headed back to the South DQ and we had a cool exchange ,BSed, took a bunch of shots then I headed back South to Vincennes with Team Ram , I hope that Koolaid Kid and Brian went looking for the covered bridges, I'd like to see some pics.
When we hit Vincennes it was a quick good bye, I wish we had more time but they wanted to get home and I still had to head 50 miles East to Martin State Park before it got dark.
Got there with plenty of day light and had the whole park to my self
The last time I camped near Fort Wayne I had to forage for fire wood, no problem there was a lot of it laying around.
This time they had stacks of 20" split Locust logs stacked every where, free for the taking
I got a raging fire going in no time and was it was the warmest I had been all day.
Had dinner and could not keep my eyes open past 9:30 I slept good,.
Next day I planned a route home picking the most curvy roads I could find that headed me in a homeward direction.
Southern Indiana in the Hoosier National forest is beautiful, huge first growth trees , neat rock formations Ect...
Never been there before and I wish I had another day or two to explore , next time

Well the route home was fun and took a lot longer than I expected, I had hoped to take a bunch of pics but my phones battery was running low and I needed to press on.
Got lost near Kankakee IL not far from home , didn't recognize the roads from that direction, managed to ride along the river to Braidwood , very nice but had to bail and hit the highway for the last 50 miles.
Made it home just after sun set.
Very nice to meet everyone, you are a great bunch of folks , lets do it again
Jack
I'll be posting relay pics here shortly
