I wonder how long these turn of the century steel bridges can hang on, the stone ones seem to last forever.
We were watching the series on The men that built America , I think it was called , they had one featuring Andrew Carnegie and how he was responsible for building the first big steel bridge in 1874 that crosses the Mississippi at St. Louis .
It is still in operation carrying 4 lanes of traffic and 2 sets of rails, I think I need to go see it.
Here is another one located in Morris IL over the I&C canal, the pic is grainy because it was taken at dusk through a 6 year old phone :blush:
