Oh man :woohoo: that was close.

My wife and I were on an evening ride along the Illinois river doing about 50 on a nice two lane road when this deer came out of the left side ditch full blast and ran across the road about five feet behind me, it never slowed down.

I didn't see her until we were staring eye to eye, caught my wife by surprise too.

Maybe I need loud pipes

Lucky miss, guess no deer at all would have been better luck though. Glad it was behind you, that would have left a mark. I had one make it across three lanes of decent traffic to run into the bedside of my truck back in 98. I was on my way home from the dealership  probly would have darn near killed me if I was on a bike
Mine:
04 Honda rebel 250(wifes)
04 GSXR 750(bolt on galore)
98 CBR 600F3(filter, pipe, adjustable cam sprokets, dyno tune)
76 KZ900A (LTD gauge pods, crash bars, LTD(style)pipes, dyna coils and ignition, headwork and mild port cleanup by cavanaugh racing, K&N filter pods, heck I dunno.

Thats a scary feeling for sure had one run right into my drivers door of my van this spring we were both at full speed he glanced back didnt really hurt anything just a nose print on my window.

Had a buddy riding a GSXR following a car that hit a deer it flew over the car he laid down on the tank it skimmed accross hiback breaking his windscreen and scratched him up not sure loud pipes would help that lol

Thank goddness it was just a scare

glad your okay...crashing is one thing but it sucks when we have someone with us so much worse...they got no bars to hang onto to....

after a friend got linebackered years ago on a Z1 by a deer around sunset ,by some fields,,,after seeing deer nibbling shrubs along the road just before...and wham it came off a high bank full tilt ,bounced off his shoulder,,almost crashed him and ran off...before he could blink...his whole shoulder/chest was purple for a day or two

one of my habits

first thing id do when i see any deer anywhere...is slow and/or watch for one bolting...i always imagine a dog chasing one ...a mountain lion ect.....when cruising in the country....and plan a crash evade....mental games while country riding ect....side roads too are a killer...two lane country road means kids on dirt bikes ,atv's, dogs fighting or clearing a wandering dog off their road ect....

I just know the side is where the blind spot is when i am watching the next corner

Yeah, we were seeing deer every where and I was looking for them.

That Doe came out of an area that is heavily fished by out of towners and I never would have thought to watch that side of the road,I will now

We still had 2 hours of day light.

We're also getting a lot of Turkey Vulchers eating road kill in the warm months.

I can see why the Baja racers have those bars on their windshields , those things are slow and unpredictable as to which way they take off, but at least you can see them and slow down.

I would sure hate to have one of those hit me in the face at 50 or 60 mph

Finally able to watch that video thanks to my ultra slow Hughesnet :pinch:

That was wild, his speed and all that plastic was probably what saved him.

we rode through a swarm of bees in a shopping mall route the other day getting gas to head down to big sur....when we got to the station a few blocks later, as we got off the bike she said...honey your covered in bees....three really.....so we set em free.....then i explained to her that if one ever flies in her helmet ,hoody neckline...etc....to stay calm and tap my shoulder ...i will pull over as quick as i can......but to never,EVER...freak out and start moving around because we might ...crash...swerve into an oncoming car....or clip a parked car...etc.......sudden passenger flails can really move the bike in a split second.....we had never had this talk.....i should go over it again and practice a pull over with her.....just think...all those miles and we had up to now never made an emergency pull over signal.....

You bring up a good point trianglelaguna, women freak out :woohoo:
I'll go over that with the Mrs. this morning before our ride, thanks.

I saw a short movie once were a guy scares his girlfriend with a fake spider.
Bad things can happen.

Found it
