Hey guys, I'm Mark. I have a summer internship with the Division of Oil and Gas in Anchorage and drove from PA so I could bring my motorcycle and mountain bike and fun stuff like that. I decided one night back in March, in Pennsylvania, that I was going to ride my 1980 KZ550C (LTD 550 to some) up the Dalton Highway after watching a few YouTube videos at 4 AM while I was procrastinating my schoolwork. Well, I made it up there and here is how it went: I now have a new appreciation for "the middle of nowhere." :silly:

After months of planning and preparation (or at least daydreams while sitting in class), I was ready to leave on the most epic motorcycle ride I have attempted to date. I departed Anchorage on July 9th on my 1980 Kawasaki. It was a beautiful day when I left town, a little bit smoky from the fires, but sunny and close to 80 degrees. I started up the Parks Highway loaded down with a full fuel tank, an extra 5 gallon tank bungee strapped to the rack and my pack with roughly 60 pounds of gear, food, and clothes. I reckon I was pushing half a ton when it was all said and done. I stopped for lunch along an old quarry alongside the Parks Highway. I noticed I lost the filler cap for the nozzle to my extra five-gallon jug so I stuffed a plastic bag down the nozzle and that worked surprisingly well for my purposes- it’s not like I have an internship with the Department of Natural Resources or anything.

Rather than repost everything, check out my ADVrider forum posts here.... www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=487607.

Also, anyone know where I can find ignition coils for this?

Wow that looks like it was a crazy trip. Thanks for sharing.

Where in PA are you from? I'm in the south central area around Lancaster.

I'm from Montoursville, just outside of Williamsport. I go to Penn State, just in Alaska for the summer. I am seriously thinking about moving here after I graduate. The biggest turn off is the fact that they get alot of snow here. And it's kind of dark in the winter haha.

Not gonna lie, the mosquitoes were pretty bad. Check this out...
