Why no love for the 650 CSR?
13 Aug 2025 13:38
I prefer the styling of other 650 models, esp the reduced rake and flat seats, but is there some other reason this was not a popular model? Do they suck or something? Saw one come up cheaply not far away and started reading up on them and see a lot of people not thrilled with this model

He's kind of locked into loving CSR, sort of like 650Ed is locked into 650.
But just to be clear, I wasn't referring to attitudes on this site, I found negativity mainly on several other sites.

Custom Stateside Replica.
Sold well enough in the US but not a style of bike that is popular on European roads.

Though I have not owned one friends in the past had one. Keep in mind they and F models are the last of the (K)Z 650s. At the time Mama Kaw was pushing their 750 models which may of played a bigger part than some think. Certainly related to the number of machine made. Some info I have found (not claiming it is 100%) indicate the following regarding how many CSRs were built.
1981 H1 12599
1982 H2 4699
1983 H3 1299
In general the B.C and F models are pretty much the same. The D, E and H models differ from the others, fatter back tires no duck tail smaller fuel tank, pull back bars etc.

Interesting numbers, that make me wonder how many were made of the other models. I guess this bodes not so well for finding parts for a CSR.

Yesterday 19:15That one could be loved back to life by someone with more time, money and experience than me. Is that what you are going to do?

Haven't had a 650 in decades but search thru ebay looking for SR Petrol Tanks!! Of course not a CSR though. They want more for just a tank then you could buy the whole bike for, ha. Not really aware of a following for the CSR1000 either? But for everything made someone loves and cherishes them.

Re: Why no love for the 650 CSR?
Yesterday 08:39That's nice. Non-original color, but since I love that color you are forgiven.
Still not quite understanding why these are the least-loved type of KZ650, unless its all due to the styling mentioned in my first post.
