Would like some ideas on how others have mounted windshields on the kz1000p fairing motorcycles. I bought a handlebar mounted one on the bay but I think it's going back. The windshield will have to mount in front of the dash cluster moving it quite a bit forward. I think that will cause more turbulence than I want. Any one want to share photos and parts that they used?

Also what do the 2 threaded holes in the handlebar riser clamp hold? There is nothing there now.

Won't any windshield mount in front of the meters? maybe I don't understand what you mean.
From the diagrams at Partzilla the extra holes in the handlebar clamp are for an optional siren bracket.

On my 81 KZ650-CSR I installed an old Emgo fairing with a SlipStreamer handlebar & fork mount kit. The kit is universal fit & adjustable. The fairing fits around the headlight & forward of the meters. I guess the fairing is kind of a mini-batwing style & there's quite a bit of turbulence.

Yes the windshield will have to be to far forward. I'm thinking it will be better without one. Thanks.

CHiPs first aired in the 70s, so they used the KZ1000C Police & I think also some KZ900s. not sure if the 900s were police bikes or just made up to look that way. Some 1000P models would have been used near the end of the series. Probably nothing was done to the meters.

Awesome burnout picture! Thanks!

I'll mess around with the windshield mount and see what can be done.
