Uh oh GPz 550!!!

A year or two back someone posted on KZr that the were considering buying an 83 GPz 550. He got lots of positive feedback, I assume he bought it... I also commented that if one of those came up for sale in NZ I'd be 'fizzing at the bung!' Look what showed up for sale this week!

I know it's not mint but it does have a rego and WOF, unlike my usual barn finds! He says he has the front fairing too.
My main problem is the 440 I bought last month, it still needs work and money spent before I can move it on. That's not a problem for me but won't go down that well with the missus! This is a bike that I actually desire, the 440 not so much. What do you fellas reckon?

You can get a better GPZ 550 for less money
600 Euro = 900 AUD

Chur bro, thanks for the tip eh? I'm actually in New Zealand bro. Pretty small market here so when they come up you gotta strike or you miss out.

Ha ha . I looked at the bike then the price thought it looked a little pricy . Then saw your location was like ok . Looks like with a little work should be a good bike .

Get the bike you really want, I've been around these GPz 550's nearly 30 years now and still not bored of them.

Reading between the lines that bike needs some TLC and $$$ spent, remeber these are 'cult' bikes and not really valued highly by 'collectors' , even less so for the later unitracks. Go in with a sub $1000 bid.

77 k kilometers is not excessive for the motor, if the rest of the bike has been maintained.

My main problem is the 440 I bought last month, it still needs work and money spent before I can move it on.

Bad logic or Confirmation bias here? smart traders know which to shift on, and what to get their hands dirty. Those 440 are not really sought after here, low value bikes needing work to sell cheap rarely turn a profit.

Well, I tried but I missed out on the GPz. I offered him the 1500 he was asking for but he'd apparently agreed to sell it to some joker on the Saturday a few days later. I was gutted. I even wrote him a big spiel why he should sell it to me because of my credentials as a moto-resurector and that it was too good to sell to some bozo who would likely chop it attempting to make some thing 'cool'. Too bad it fell on deaf ears.
