"Go Fast" Turbo update
20 Jul 2017 17:11 - 20 Jul 2017 17:45
Well I started tinkering with the turbo bike last weekend with great results. First thing was general maintenance and see if it would start.
1. Picked up some metal rescue and cleaned the petro tank. That stuff works pretty darn good tank looks new inside.
2. Remove carb, it was spotless inside and I installed a new plunger.
3. Remove wastegate inspect. Ball bearings were froze , clean, make new gasket reinstall
4. Rear brake pedal slightly froze, again remove clean grease
5. Flush out old brake fluid with new, Front M/C needs new diaphragm, ordered new one. Yikes expensive item
6. Install new battery
7. Hook up aux. gas tank
8. twist throttle several times.
9. Turn key hit start button and BAM ! fired right up.
The engine sounds great like a singer sewing machine, no abnormal engine noise. There was a lot black smoke ( thankfully not white smoke) I Maybe different climates but Gus had the Hi screw out 3 turns, way too rich ( or I counted wrong ). I set it at 1-3/4 and no smoke bike sounds good. I might be able to lean it out a tad bit more manual calls for 1 -1/2
I do want to thank Les Holt for some valuable turbo knowledge he shared with me. Thanks Les ! Next up remove the cig lighter alarm rev limiter etc,

Today rained out at work at spent a few hours removing all this crap. Gus did an admiral job hooking up all this stuff. There is an alarm system , non functioning rev limiter , cigarette lighter, all this installed without cutting or butcher the original wire harness !
Before
after
Here's all the crap I took off
Well I did have to replace the fuse box
old
new
It's a good thing I hoard parts !!

Great feeling when all goes as hoped!!! I spoke with Gus on more than 1 occasion and he seem to be a straight up guy. Glad it all went well for you!. I will make my way that way for a brew of 2 some day!
