My stable grows

I've added another bike to my garage. It's a '15 Yamaha FZ-09. For those of you not familiar with the new line of Yammers, this is a triple, about 115 hp and 67 ft-lbs of torque. It's a beast. And the Kaw will be sharing garage space. I figured after dropping nearly a grand in suspension, carb rebuilds and replacing the starter clutch in my GPZ, I deserved another ride to place alongside my trusty steed. Here it is in all its yellow glory.

A few more. Once I sync the carbs on the GPZ, I'll be going back and forth between the 2 of them for work every week.

Sorry to say, never seen such a ugly license plate holder, first to get of the bike.
The Yamaha engineers run out of ideas. 70th bikes looking better than than this.
Darvin avard for the design.

Yamaha has to fullfill DOT fender standards, they design them like that knowing full well it is one of the first things the buyer will take off.

Enjoy the FZ-09 my buddy just picked up a FZ-07 and he let me take it for a blip the other day. it is a real hoot.

If you think the 2015 is bad, check out the 2017. I'm pretty sure I'll be using an eliminator kit.

I was torn between the 07 and the 09. Since they had this one as a leftover 2015, it made my mind up for me. It also looks good in the garage with the GPZ. My wife calls it "ketchup and mustard".

I like it with the fender. I may be old and set in my ways, but every new sportbike has the fender removed, and looks so stupid that way. It looks like part of the bike is missing almost. Well part of the bike *IS* missing, and it looks like crap missing. Keep the fender.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I'm normally in your shoes. I do not ever modify my bikes unless it is for safety (sliders, engine guards) and that goes for the tail. In this case, however, the tail is such that when I swing a leg over the bike, it often catches me. I've never had that on a bike before. It's not every time, but it's enough that it's annoying and a potential tip over hazard.

I might find some shorter stalks for the lights but honestly, the easiest and cheapest way is to eliminate it. I'm still mulling it over.

Fenders are important if you ride in the rain. I like this bike so much I own two of them!

I want one of those FZ's! I'm not crazy about the styling but they are reputed to be amazing bikes!

"ketchup and mustard" is priceless!:D
