Vintage Motorcycle meet in Denver today....
25 Mar 2017 23:25 - 25 Mar 2017 23:37
On a whim, a buddy and I drove our bikes over to crash a vintage motorcycle meet-concourse-competition.
I didn't read the flyer very well and it was just for vintage EURO made machines....
I signed up anyhow and put my 77' KZ1000A up against their finest! HA ha
I got great reviews from everyone drooling over the KZ but someone put "no points-Euro Comp" on my form under the front tire!! LOL
I was the only vintage Japanese bike there and of the other two Asian machines, who did not have vintage bikes anyhow... the only non-Euro one who signed up anyhow. Fearless.
It was very funny watching all the Euro riders freaking about breaking the rules yet they all were pouring over my daily rider.
The guy won 3rd place next to me and told me he was going to be really pissed if I win......
The few judges, employees of the dealership and a few others shared in the fun of it and we all had a really good time anyhow.... especially watching a few pissed off owners of a some German, Brit and Italian bike owners... showing off average restored bikes compared to my KZ, .... and ridden every year for the last 39!!

I understood your thoughts about this strange situation.
You and your friend attract like outlaws.
Here in Germany our vintage Japanese bike, specifically the Zed bikes, are in the center of interest at every motorcycle meeting point.
Like ,"oh what is that for a bike, never seen",and when you say your bike was build in the early 70th ´they say never, you are kidding me!
When i say the Kawasaki Z1 was the world first 900cc bike and mother of all muscle and super bikes they don´t want to believe it.
The bike scene here in Germany is like a big family, everybody is welcome everywhere without exception.

I like them all!!
I have a Bonneville too... but it's just too much fun to irritate some of these wanker "vintage motorcycle" cork sniffers....
Every time go out with my riding buddies, and I'm on the Kaw, I am the ONLY one who gets real attention and I get asked all kinds of questions about it. Plus a lot of the questions end up with the others talking about their old vintage UJMs too!!
It's all good and we have a blast.
