My CB550 still wears its black plate. Its a Dutch bike from 76 (or maybe its 78.Cant remember anymore!)
My Z had a standard yellow plate (without the euro flag down the side).It was a huge metal jobby and pretty battered,so I went to the local plate makers for a new one.Its quite a bit smaller,in plastic with the euro flag down one side. Looks a lot better but theres a small '1' stamped on it ( above the license number). I asked what it was for and he said it was required by law as it was a copy (the first copy) of the original plate!!
Still havent got my head round that one.
It will be April when my kz can be registered as historic and spoke to a dvla registered plate maker and they confirmed I can use a nlack and silver 3 line plate
