Ahh it was pretty junky just a frame motor and tank (perfect for me!) the guy tossed in the oil tank in the crap i bought along with a kz1000 front end and swingarm. Of course he was one of them sellers who told me he would toss in some carbs for the kz and a few new tires when he found them.

Had another guy take my address so he could send me an ape big block and pistons, 29 smoothbores and a set of cams when i traded him a bike. So yeah i never fully trust them folks

I feel for you. I know Craigslist for me is a fickle mistress!

I want and will have an H2! It will be given a Sanctuary style makeover with a dirt tracker feel. Someday it will happen.......need the ring-a-ting-ting and the wonderful smell of heavy hydrocarbons and blue dye burned at a high rate......

Good luck getting your bike!

I'm restoring this one but I will eventually build a crazy one with late model type suspension but I'll use an H1 chassis with an H2 motor. H1's are way more available around me. Still rare but more available.

Ahh, double post, sometimes posting from a phone sucks.

I'm wanting to do basically a stocker just a bit of frame bracing and a custom swingarm for the most part. Probably wont be a keeper but just one to play with, dont want to pay the 10k+ they hit on ebay or craigslist, never would be able to, good paying job or not, I wouldnt consciously be able to spend that on anything and be happy with it. And I feel like if i dont get to one sooner rather than later i would have to re-import one

I've had a 1974 H2 for nearly 35yrs now. They were a fun motorcycle, but prices now are not worth it to me. I paid $1000 for mine back in 1979 and it's a nice one. Last summer a guy from England was buying some junk from me and saw a 1973 H2 I've had sitting around for 25 or so years I was using for parts and offered me $2000 for it, so it's now happily in England I guess.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Rick Brett ( I think thats his name) out of England constantly snaps up any decent h2's that pop up on craigslist. Then of course they get $15-$20k restorations done etc. that keeps up and there is no chance of getting one.
It's honestly to bad IMHO takes one out of my reach for a long time, if they keep going up, out of my reach period. My small network of friends that would help me look for things like that is nearly gone, I don't go to bars and listen to the old coots that had one, and my father in law, who could pull crap like that outta thin air, has been gone for nearly four years. Right now i can just sit back, enjoy what i do have and watch as each new one gets parted out on ebay or hacked up into a fighter cafe bobber etc and just drives the price of a clean junker up through the roof.

I'll just focus on the kz1000 that I am working on and try not to, as the wife puts it, obsess

Yeah, Rick Brett has a warehouse with people in Michigan, he is always buying good stuff. He fills a container and sends back to the UK. He also has the best Triple decals for restoration, and he is selling those 5/8 bore master cylinder knock offs from Tiawan for $88 dollars. I sold him Z1 stuff 25 years ago. He used to be with a Man named Ian. They scrounged the country for old Jap parts.

I could not sell this 72 H2 frame last year on ebay. But the other parts, body, brake system, front wheel got me $2500. I shipped parts to France, Norway, the UK and Alaska.
I can't stand the sound of them! The worst was at the drags at the line racing one

More room for The Old Girl, Harley 75 FLH Electra Glide,

NOTHING sounds and smells better than a TZ750 warming up in the cool morning air

The aroma of Castrol R and Unocal 76 along with the rattle of a dry clutch, and the pinging of four barely muffled chambers brings back many memories.

Or going around the racetrack at full song with "some old guy" riding it and getting it quite sideways!

That "Old Guy" did pretty good that night!!! I was there that night.

Would not have missed the two strokes racing after reading it in Cycle News.

There was also two Erv Kanemoto tuned H2r powered flat trackers there that night too!!!!
That was the last year for open stingers. '76 everybody had to have mufflers.
