Mrs bluej wants a Rebel (UPDATE)

04 May 2013 12:26 - 01 Apr 2014 16:52
#585608
Back in 88 my wife was all set to get her bike license.

She sweated it out for 3 days in 90 deg. heat all she had to do was get her picture taken, but as fate would have it she got knocked up :woohoo:

Now after riding with me last season and my son getting on the road she is getting back her confidence.

The bike she took the course on was a Honda Rebel and she would get there early just so she could get that bike.
She is a shorty 5'2" and a 107 lbs. soaking wet, so the Rebel worked well.

So last night when this came up I was pleased, and this morning she was on the computer looking around which means it wasn't just the bloody Mary talking so B)

Any body know anything about these things ?

It's crazy what folks are getting for them, I'm hoping that I can find one that needs cleaning up.
The wife wants to customize it anyway , no big hurry she will not be on the road until next year.

This year she will have to settle on driving us around on the country roads on my bike :cheer:

This is what she has in mind except maybe in pink and white.

They're not bad looking bikes and the seat should be low enough for your wife to be able to put both feet on the ground. Ed

I had an 82 KZ550 back in college, rode the wheels off that thing. All day comfortable, trouble free and pretty peppy. Would look like a good companion to your 1000 and they're fairly common on Craigslist for fairly cheap. Not sure about the seat height for your teansy woman. How cool would it look if you grafted the boat tail fender on to make it look like a mini KZ1000?

Had no idea they were still making them. I know they are in demand and fetching a good price for some reason. Good looking bike. Really like the example you posted. I suppose as long as its just intended for her to ride solo with very little highway riding, it should be a perfect fit. Good luck on your search.

Thanks Curt a lot of good examples, that Tank vision is real neat looking but I don't like owning to much stuff from that country.

I'm trying to show her other bikes but so far she is pretty set.

We went to a Suzuki/Honda shop and the guy tried to sell her a single cylinder 650 for only $6000.00 :woohoo: nice bike ,very low to the ground, the exhaust pipe was huge and the single carb is a MIKUNI BS40

They didn't have any Rebels to sit on.

Haybus, I didn't get a chance to see that ad before it disappeared, thanks though.
I wish I could find a Kaw she likes , we'll see.

Like I said , no hurry

Yet

It was a real nice 81 KZ550, with the square-ish tank and a bikini fairing for $575. I'm sure it sold right away and the ad was deleted.
