I'd rather have the 550 any day myself. Just throwing some ideas out there of bikes with low seat height.

Go Mrs Blue... Good for her, right on! B)

Is it fast as a 4 cylinder bike anything, well of course not... but she's not looking for that now is she... As Blue stated, confidence builder and have some fun with the feeling of FREEDOM at the same time while riding with her family. Now how cool is that.... B)

Perfect choice for a beginner bike, extremely reliable design and simple to work on if needed. All in all, she'll and you luv that rebel... Besides, no one makes fun of a girl riding a rebel, only a guy gets blasted.

My wife liked the Savage too - she'd be about the same size, maybe a couple inches shorter. Rebel would be a good first bike choice. And if they're getting crazy money, then you will too if she trades up ever.

My wife's first bike was the Suzuki savage. She loved it for about a week then she wanted to go faster. I got her the 84 gpz 550 and she was good for several years. I recently added a gpz 1100 to her quiver. She limes having choices too.

nighthawk 250...i just talked to lady at the bike show...late 50's-60 ...husband is famous cycle person...she has been on bikes since the 70's....she traded down to a nighthawk 250 and said she LOVES it....except on the group ride when there where 40 + men on big bikes revving to pass her mid pack on a single track road.....she said she learned to ride at the back next time...but the bike is light and low and more fun than any bike she has had... for turning and stopping in lots...for leaving lights etc....now she is really having fun she said...her last bike was a F800 bmw ......she likes the nighthawk 250 better for safer riding....it is tiny and well laid out imo...I walked past her group parked as we left and the 250 was clean and red and light looking

That Night Hawk is sharp looking Tri,thanks for the pic.

She still has her heart set on a Rebel though, but now I think We'll wait for a good deal on a stocker , put some fresh tires on it and let the Mrs. ride around for a year and decide what she wants to do next.

If she wants to customize cool , if she wants to step up then maybe we can get what we have into it back out.

I would like to see how she sits on a 550.

We went to the Blessing of the bikes yesterday at the local Harley shop, they had a road course set up and was letting folks ride around on single cylinder Beull's , nice looking bikes but she had to be on tippy toes, a real deal breaker.

Jack, glad to see Mrs BlueJ is taking an interest in your passion.

Mecca had a Nighthawk 250, and it was a nice bike.

She really liked her 76 KZ400 that was lowerwed about an inch front and rear

Also you might check into KS440 LTD's (80-83). With a handle bar change they are not bad.
After all they are relay proven.

Good luck with getting her on her own 2 wheels

The 550's C M and F models are pretty low, but also heavy. I would look into a really nice condition 440 Ltd. They are pretty light, common, and fairly cheap. There is also a KZ250 cruiser, but are hard to come by. That would likely be the shortest model, and equivalent to a Rebel. (The KZ200 single is light, but notas short as a 250 Ltd style.)

This one looks nice. You should be able to talk him down quite a bit. Seller's market right now, though.

Lowered for 4'11 folks.

Well she ended up getting a 2000 Suzuki Marauder and it looks like the bike she wanted to build with out all the work B)

Always garage kept with less then 5000 miles on her and for half of what they want for a halfway decent Rebel .

All we had to do was change fork seals and tires, it still had the original ones, and a bunch of polishing.
