Good runner though, I trust her -- I'm going 240 round trip in a day next week to meet Tom. Maybe we can sweet talk N0NB (he's in Maryville) to come an hour North like to Beatrice to meet me, then back down toward Wichita someplace that can work for you two. And I think you do need to go (as far as is practical) West to get CO and NM into the relay.justinz830 wrote: Well, at least I know I should have enough time to get my bike back together around the time you get the flag. I'll be relocating closer to Wichita around then, so at least a little further southwest than I am now. Is the flag aimed for CO after KS, or down to NM? It has already been through TX and OK right? I know that my bike is not a long hauler, and 3 hours is a little tiring. I know I could make a pretty good distance over a weekend, if someone could reach out and meet me halfway.
Gravit8 has been MIA since last fall, at least on this forum, and he was in Iowa City, IA then. Unless he pops up soon he'll miss the flag.
Link 14 is/was supposed to start leg 4. He's in northern CO. and was intending to travel north through CO, WY, MT, then go west. Oops forgot about UT. Leg 5 or the west coast leg was going to start in ID, go to WA then south. More later.

They/re melting now on account of the language I used while getting the carbs off. :woohoo:

Coldwater actually, further south, and not quite that far west. Almost on the way to New Mexico though. I'm not sure who all will be around, but if I'm meeting up with Link14 it would be easiest for me to just go over to CO. I'm not sure how we'd get NM in there, but the 4 corners idea sounds good.

Where is the flag headed to and pics are always welcome. If the flag could make it to AZ OMR and I can ride it to L.A. and North up to Monterrey. That would be on my LTD of course, for those of you who are purists.

Link 14 is coordinating the next leg, #4 Rocky mountain states. He's in southern Colorado I think. That's where it should go after Kansas or to New Mexico and then to Link14. The only players in New Mexico are me part time, and gravit8 if he's not in Iowa City. He's MIA also. Dave, you wanna go to Kansas? How far west this time for I'm/KZ1075 ready to get this to LA, shit load of members there.
Then up to Northen cal as well...

My travel plans this June were to ride to Washington State, visit my nephew out there and then ride down the Pacific Coast Highway to San Francisco and then San Diego then east to New Mexico then home. I'll take 5 weeks to do it. I could reverse that route. All plans are temporary til the kickstand is up.
Good chatting on the phone the other day Tom. We will ride together and soon. Stay in touch. Would love to take the KZ 650 on a nice long ride myself. Hmmm? Need more time away from work. Really hate missing my part of the Illinois leg. Dang overcooked battery! No problems now. Ready to ride!

Go south too. Rather the treacherous corners in the mountains so Colorado would be welcomed. My bike has tires on it now so it's very close. A couple of nuts and bolts and calipers away from being ready.

Love those mountain passes but the bike runs like a dog going up.
Go with the lowest octane you can find.
Coming down is great though, on the pass between Durango and Silverton I shut off the engine and coasted the last 12 miles into Silverton, nothing like it, tons of turns, granite walls and quiet except for the occasional water fall ,really beautiful
Independence pass between Twin lakes and Aspen is very nice too.
I hear that the road to the top of Pikes peak is totally paved now, oh well.
lots of great roads out there.
I wish I could make it out there for this but a Colorado trip this year is pretty much out of the question
