I have not been foloowing leg 3 as i have been dealing with my own pitty party. I am thoroughly convinced we have a few rocket scientist on this board and possibly more than 1 brain surgeon.
while I will be the first to admit my formal education was in somrtinh other than the 3 r"s and was a little more hands on approach if its 12 drgrtees in oklahoma how cool is it in nemexico? or arizona
this time of year would scream south of the southwest portion of our lil journey.
bear in mind i have been ingeting legal amounts of narcotics for 6 days stright without missing a dose so if I'm a little unrealistic some tell me to go sit down til i come down but I'm pretty sure riding the flag up into cooler weather is a pretty sure fire way to say hey I took it to oklahoma and now its gonna sit for 3 months. but if we continue to stay as far south as possible i would think we could get several more states ibn untiulcool weather prevailed and slowed our efforts

Bill and I are meeting on Saturday at the Progressive International Bike show in Dallas to transfer the flag. I know the other guys in northern Oklahoma want to get the flag too, and I have contacted them and will set up a transfer for the 17th, weather permitting.
Keeping it in the south would be a good idea, but it seems like the southwest has few riders and very long distances between us. Bill and the Houston group and myself are looking at a 450 mile round trip, and a possible overnight to do this one part of the leg. Maybe we can move it as far as possible and when the time comes to stop because of ice and snow, that person with the flag can mail it to someone in south California and they can keep it going? If we do that then we can re-adjust the legs over the winter, maybe?

Re: KZ North American Relay Ride-Leg 3
05 Nov 2012 01:49 - 05 Nov 2012 01:50This is getting frustrating. I thought the flag was supposed to go North from Texas. If it has to stall out due to weather, fine. I cant ever do 450 miles with the flag, but I'm riding my '79 KZ 650 to work in the 40's and wet tomorrow. C'mon, people.OKC_Kent wrote: Bill and I are meeting on Saturday at the Progressive International Bike show in Dallas to transfer the flag. i didn't realize moving the flag was a "high pressure" deal.
we do not have a time frame to co-ordinate to.
when we started this i don't remember anything about it being a race.
if you want in,wait your turn.
it will get to you.
in turn when you get it and your thirty year old bike brakes something and you can't move it for a couple weeks i "won't" ride your "a$$"!
that's my .02,ymmv.

p.s. whiners always finish last anyway.it's just their nature :silly: .

05 Nov 2012 11:15All good points, Leon, sorry...I was having one of my fits of impatience last night, and it came off as whiny. I'm happy to help out whenever and wherever.531blackbanshee wrote: i didn't realize moving the flag was a "high pressure" deal.
