That's not a half bad idea. That bike does need a little help in the looks department. All in due time. Right now my goal is to have the cheapest running bike I ever bought. I have allowed myself the extravagance of purchasing a superbike bar, and some new grips. Woo, high drama, I blew my budget by $25. Oh, and it will need paint. That petcock was totally plugged, and so I needed to dump out 1.5 gal of rancid gas through the filler. That fairly well ruined his Rustoelum paint job.

That seat goes on there like a stock seat, but it's different that what I have seen in the pictures of the bikes when they were new.

So Leon, I tried to slip my tank from the 1000 on there to get you a picture. It would require some serious bangin' to make it fit. The backbone tubes are really wide on the zook.

Since I couldn't get my funny Kawazuki picture, I decided to give you guys a video instead. I played with the carbs enough to go for a spin around the block. When I got back this is what happened:

Don't worry Leon, you ain't missing much. No burnouts or buckhorn bar wheelies. Just proof that my little toy actually runs. BTW, my superbike bars can't get here soon enough. Those handle bars are terrible. Picture your dog, sitting up, begging for a treat. That's how it feels to ride with those things. I felt the need to sit on the back seat, so I could stretch out my gorilla arms. Does seem to handle fairly well. Front brakes are not up to snuff with my 6 piston jobs on the KZ. Needs new fork oil. Boing! Boing! Boing! 1980 gear indicator is cool, it actually works.

just bought the classic motorcycle mechanics brit mag from the books store(gotts to chub up and subscribe to my Brit mags...22.00 for 2 mags @b&noble..:( )
anyways the issue with the fzr1000 on the cover has the history and good details about the gs750 and it's evolution from 76 (giant killer 2 valve model)through 83 ,less on the 16 valve ones but still in depth and many pages of gs750 theory......

i like the no money and ride it theory....i lie to myself also....you are gonna gonna have a nitro drag bike in no time...you cant help it.....

+1 on the seat, I was over at my buds indie shop the other day and among his vast parts bike collection was a 80 gs 1000 with the SAME type seat, I thought DAMN this was popular ????

oyea the dog begging for treats was funny as hell dude

I ain't gonna lie, that seat is real comfortable, and it's in really good shape. It will be gone in the future. It won't fit the style of the finished product.

The PO drilled out the baffles, so it does sound pretty mean. I'll just run it like that for now. There's one little ding in the exhaust, but otherwise the pipes seem good. I would like to have a 4-1 in the future, but the budget for this one is pretty low.

I went ahead and stripped off the green paint last night. Since I torched the paint on the tank by pouring out the nasty gas. I hate having rattlecan paint on tanks, and I didn't care for the color. I'll shoot some real paint on it, and I can clear it a the same time I re-do the clear on my KZ tank.

New bars should be here Tuesday, so I should have a mini transformation in short order.
