Well, I decided to go for it. After talking with some good folks at The GSResources, it seems to be a worthwile purchase. I'll try and get some pics up later. Thanks for everyone's advice.

It will get some new handlebars if nothing else. It's got some hideous cruiser bars on it right now.

I think you've got a bargain.
I had a GS750 for a year a couple of seasons ago - I preferred it to the KZ650 I had the season before that - much more 'get-up-and-go' to the motor.
I would rate the GS750 a good commuter or backroads bike. Fairly easy to work on. The shim changing is easier than the Z1/KZ engines.
...and yes, thegsresourses is a good site - comparable to this one.

It seems that the GS site is more active than KZR. At least at the current moment. My thread over there was started late last night and already has 3 pages. It seems I get a new response within a minute of posting anything there.
Alas, KZR has been a little slow for the past month or so. Damned holidays are slowing us down.

Dude, for 3 C-notes you can't loose! Buy it, ride it and leave it alone unless you have to do something. Thats what my KZ was for. I bought it and rode it.....only putting money into it if I HAD to (ignition needed help). Here's your chance for everyone to hate you for getting such bitchin deal

A running GS 750 for $300 ?? Aaarrgghhh!!!
I know money don't translate well, but to give you an idea over here in Euroland (Denmark)
I make a little over 4 grand a month working full time, then there's taxes which leaves me with some $2,600.
I paid $3,100 for my 77 KZ650 and $5,100 for my 82 GPz1100 and think I got a fair deal on both - heck, $300 is less than I paid for the new seat I put on the 1100.....

Well eat your hearts out boys. I'm a member of the Suzuki gang as well. I just checked and the bike is a 1980 GS750L. Check it out:
