as far as i know they were kzs starting middle-end of 75 production run :huh:

A lot of people think the A4's (1976 KZ900) are Z1's because the serial numbers start Z1E.

There was or is a A4 on ebay that the guy swears is a Z1 but in fact is a KZ900. Roy

Yea, 1975 was the last Z1. There's not $0.10 difference in a KZ900 vs a Z1 so I never really understood why Z1 is the ultimate and KZ900 is just an old KZ900. I think the main reason for the name change was just to make it easier to identify the models. Previously there was the Z1, H2, H1, S2, G3, F11 etc. Later there was KZ650s, KZ900s, KH500, KL250 ect. A heck of a lot easier to understand if nothing else.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

were not the kz900 cranks heavier and hence slower reving and did not the kz's frame and swingarm get thicker tubing....fork legs differ...side covers differ...tail peice is subtly different....air box is supurior in the z-1 and carbs were bigger....the z-1e on the motor has made me wonder if it the same crank...instruments are better on the kz imo...tanks lock a tad too..seat lock and latch are better on the kz

well you didn't hurt my feeling. because I thought it was. guess need to change my signature, so yall won't think I'm totaly stupid. but since my last carb adj she runs like an screaming ape,or kawasaki, she can scare me,as the front wheel lifts up,at 70 plus!

post a picture of your bike from the above and from the side and you will know within moments by folks responses....they are all pretty darn close and any z is a good bike to hang with...but to be sure ...post some pics and folks will tell you for SURE what you got........if you had a z-1 you'd know imo.....
