Could somebody please
15 Jun 2009 18:02 - 20 Jun 2009 12:32
tell me what this is.... I've searched the web for hours now trying to find an answer... but have came up empty handed...
Frame Number.... KZTOOB-15***
Engine Number.. KZ1OODEOO5***
I'm figuring it's a KZ 1000, but would kinda like to know for sure....
I ran the numbers on my 76 KZ and they came up matching what I thought it was..
Frame Number... Z1FO8****
Engine Number.. Z1EO8****
But for the life of me can not come up with anything about the other one....
Thanks..

Of hand it looks like an LTD. Uncertain the year. I'm sure someone will narrow it down soon.

I hate to admit it, but I've owned the bike in question for better than 16 years now.... It's my old dragbike I use to race back in the day... but when I dropped a valve in the top of second, I had a brand new family and it was parked in the corner of the garage and covered up..... I don't wanna say I forgot about it, but I had other priorities I had to attend to, and by the time I got to where I could rebuild it, everybody had quit racing around here... So she stayed in the corner until today when me and my boys were cleaning out the garage and pulled it out to spray it off....
It had been awhile since I had saw it, other than pictures, and I had forgot a few things about it... Like it has an early style tank on it... narrow neck, exposed tank hold down in the rear...
I'm kinda of ashamed I've let it set so long to be honest... but I do feel a little lighter just telling it...

Here's one from the second year I raced it...
and here is one from the last year I ran it... not a very good picture, but the only one I can find right now...
I reckon since I'll be out in the garage tomorrow putting my boys KX back together, I could get a couple better pictures of it if need be...

I think what Roy is asking about is that there is an apparent problem with the frame number. The motor VIN says it is a 1978 KZ1000D1 aka Z1R while the frame VIN with the 'B' in the 6th position says it is a LTD model, all of which were assembled in Nebraska...and if so, the digit following the 'B' should be a '5'...and it isn't.

Yep... those numbers are right.... frame # KZTOOB-15***, and engine # KZ1OODEOO5***
Now I'm sure that's not the original engine to that frame.... I mean it was already a dragbike when I bought it all those years ago.... So who knows what kind of changes it went though in all those years...
A few pictures of it today...
