Welcome to the MKll Owner's subsection of KZR. Nice score, congrats. The paint ( Luminous Red - my personal fav) on yours looked like Ron's at one time, as stock as that one is it 's a great candidate for restoration.Keep us posted .

Thanks, I will be posting a cleaning and polishing thread when I get back home and pick her up at the end of April. I plan on cleaning up the chrome, polishing whatever engine pieces originally were, and generally cleaning the bike. I think with a good wax that paint will shine again too. Other than the seat, she'll be staying bone stock, modding is what my 650 is for.

I'm glad you're getting it. I looked at Kawasaki and the seat is no longer available and as mentioned the ST seat is not the same and won't fit. No ST body parts are the same as a MKII. Yes they look the same, but are not going to work. Seats used to come up on ebay from time to time.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I'm glad too.
Thats a good heads up on the ST parts. I think what I'm gonna do its tear the foam and cover off the seat pan thats on her and get a local shop to make me a corbin-esque seat, should be a cheap and good looking option.

The acessories on the MarkII will really help off set the price of the bike if you don't want it.
I feel your pain. Every time i buy a bike it seems a week later there is a bike for sale that i just got to have.
Ask my wife.Roy

You got me thinking, so I checked out the parts diagrams. They list different mufflers for the US and CDN markets, maybe thats why they're different.
I don't think the pipes are stock after all. Compare the stock system.
