Hey guys
I know this is a Kaw site but could use some input.
I just got back home with a bike I really don't need. I did some work for a friend of a friend and got a 1983 Suzuki GS1100 shafty out of the deal. I really don't have the time to mess with it but somehow could not pass it up. It needs some lovin as far as cosmetics go. Looks like the tank is from a different bike but am not sure. It starts right up and was a daily driver. Needs a tach cable, some carb filters and rear brakes. Not sure whats wrong with the brakes it was dark and raining when I picked it up. It has Mikuni carbs that I would like to identify because they look awfully clean and I am curious. My brother had a GS1100E years ago and that is about as familiar as I am with these bikes. I really want to clean it up and get rid of it but do not have any idea of its value. I am interested in any opinions good or bad. I know this is a Kaw site but just dont know what to do. Here is a couple of pics of it still tied down on the trailer.

clean it up and ride it those were great bikes that motor is the closest thing to a two valve kawi you will ever find.

That bike is a somewhat close relative of your brother's GS1100E however.....

The GS1100G you have is a 2 valve per cylinder engine with a standard style head. Nice bike...but a little sluggish on account of the shaft drive. More of a tourer than a hot rod.

The GS1100E, OTOH, was a 4 valve per cylinder engine with chain drive and the TSCC (Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber) head. It WAS/IS a real road burner and if you want a hot rod, this is the one. Guys are STILL building drag racers using this engine....when they can find 'em. Getting pretty rare these days though.

My .02 worth....
KZ650C2 Stock/mint. Goes by "Ace".

GT550A Stock/mint. Pleasant stroker.

Based on what I see in the pics you have an L model not a standard G model. These were sort of Suzuki's version of our LTD models. They came with a stepped seat, pullbacks, chrome fenders etc.

heres my gs its a 80 g 1000c they go forever ,and hard if you want them to get rid of the black paint ,you,ll be surprised how easy it will start up i bet
