Motorcycle Catalogs
27 Jan 2009 18:08
What small things bug you?
I have noticed a lot about motorcycle catalogs over time.
Have you ever noticed that the desriptions and definitions are vegue at best. You may need to collect a couple of years worth from the same company just to understand. You may not want to call them if your just looking! No one shows any dyno charts for their parts or tell you what size dyno mule, they used while testing.
There seems to always be one guy in the bunch that collects all the catalogs and shows them to his friends. Everyone passes it around or everyone huddles around it. Everyone talks and dreams big. Some guys just buy parts by here-say and some want the facts. Most guys want a paper catalog so they can drag it around with them. We take them to the bathroom, bedroom, living room, kitchen even to our grave if possible. Looking, reading, planning, hoping and dreaming. Maybe it's the man's way of shopping? Yes you can go on line to see the free online catalogs & even download them, However it's not the same as a real PAPER catalog. Some companies will sent you a catalog for free if you ask. I hate the ones that want to charge you $5 up front for their catalog. Yes, they will refund your $5 if you buy something. I know they cost money to print and nothing is free in life. Well, when I show them to people or suggest their parts to customers, I am doing there advertising for free! I am making them money unless I'm a dealer. If they tell me it costs $5, I try not to use that company. I call on the phone to order and not buy a catalog. I only buy what I have to. I will go with the guy that gives me one for free. That guy wants by business and is willing to risk the price of a catalog on me. It may seem silly to some, I know. In these times most companies need to sell all the parts they can.
Does anything like this ever drive you crazy?

I guess you can order a catalogue or two from Dennis Kirk: Harley or Metric or both. Free.

I really like my metric DennisKirk catalogue...it's a bazillion pages and it's free!...and I get a new one every year...and it is far easier to navigate and locate parts than their website...and I can take the catalogue into the crapper but I can't do that with the website:huh:

That's why notebook computers were invented

No motorcycle catalogs here, like any true mechanic it's all tool catalogs

For billet aluminum, chrome bracketing, brake lines, head lights, integrated tail lights and blinkers etc...
Can order HD, Metric cruisers and sportbikes.
Some of the stuff can be used in any project non specific to the KZ lines. Creativity....
