Shaft Drive?

Doe's any one know if Kaw, or anyone else made a 400 to 500 shaft drive street bike? Thanks.
Have: 06 Kaw ZG1000 Concours, 80 Kaw KZ 750 Twin
Had: 71 Kaw 175 Enduro

76 Yahama 400 Enduro

As far as 1970 till present the smallest I can recollect is a 750. Probably because on the relatively higher power losses with a shaft over a chain or belt.

Later, That's not correct. Kawasaki made a shaft driven 550 in 1983. Probably other years as well.

I think the CX500 was a shaft. Yamaha made a shaft called the Vision; think it was a 550. I am not sure about some of the small mid-80s cruisers... Virago and Shadow (both had 500cc versions). I think they are shafties.

No Kaws that I can think of.

As for others,

Moto Guzzi made a 500 in the late 70's early 80's



Also, Honda's CX/GL 500 lineup.

I hope you're not in a hurry!:laugh:

I think you have it pretty well covered NDkaws...the KZ550F/M, the eliminator series (ZL400/500/600) and one that North America never saw, the GT550.
