COOL! looks like it's a go for our local click.
03 Dec 2008 07:56
i have not shared this news but with a few people here.
awhile ago ( closer to a year ) i wrote an e-mail to mother kawasaki via there web sight and inquired why they seemed to forget about the bike that made their name in the states.
i told them about all the local Z1'S and KZ'S here and what we do to them. from stock to wild.
to be honest with you, i forgot all about that e-mail and never expected to hear from them. i was just kinda venting a little.
i included a few pictures of some local bikes for them to consider.
low and behold almost a year later i recieved an answer.
since i can't copy the page, i did the copy and paste thing for you.
here goes:
Hi Steve,
You sent ROK an email a while back, and I wanted to inquire with you about the bikes you shared photos of with us. Do you still have them and would you be willing to chat with us about your motorcycle collection for an article in Accelerate magazine?
Please let me know.
Cheers!

how cool is that?
of course i said yes.
then i got this e-mail in return.
Excellent. I will have one of our contributors, Lance Oliver, get in contact with you shortly to begin an article. We would like to include photos and will rely upon you to share images with us, in as high a resolution as possible.
Have a great Thanksgiving. I will follow-up with you again shortly.

cool, looks like it might be a go.
well today i got this one from lance oliver:
Hi Steve,
I'm a freelance writer and I do a lot of work for Accelerate, the ROK magazine at Kawasaki. Teri Conrad, the editor of the magazine, sent me the e-mails you had exchanged with her and asked me to contact you. Partly at my suggestion, Teri has decided to include some stories about older Kawasakis, and I recently wrote an article on an award-winning restoration that will appear in a future issue.
She would like me to explore the possibilities of an article about your group and your KZs. Frankly, however, the story is the easy part. Generally the more difficult part is getting the photos needed to support the story, and photos are essential for the magazine.
So I'm hoping you can help me get started by giving me an idea of what kind of photos you have available or could be obtained from the other KZ owners you know. If they are in digital form, they would have to be high-resolution in order to reproduce properly in print form in the magazine.
Please let me know what you have or what is available from other sources and we can take it from there. Thanks.
Lance Oliver
just my luck that my 1260 is right smack in the middle of the build, i'm sure they don't want pictures of an engine being built.
damn, i bird dogged this and all my buddies bikes are going in a magazine.
oh well, that's the way it goes.
maybe i can sneak a couple pictures of the build in there.
i'll keep everyone posted on when this is comming out.
wish us luck!

That is awesome! I wonder if they want pictures of stock bikes or if modified ones would be OK too?
I have not heard of this magazine before, is it available pretty much anywhere magazines are sold?
Please do keep us posted!!

NICE!!
I'll bet that there are alot of KZ riders that don't know about KZr. Maybe some magazine publicity will further increase our membership. The more the merrier!
Good on you, kawasakiman!

That's a club magazine produced for members of the Riders Of Kawasaki (my guess anyway) Owners Club, ROK.
Congrats on getting the deal going, that's a bummer that your bike won't be ready in time, and no, you can't buy that magazine in stores (to whoever asked).
ROKâ„¢ Benefits
ROK currently offers two great membership packages. To contact a ROK representative, call (949) 770-0400 ext. 2773, or send an email to ROK@kmc-usa.com .
Basic Membership* $29.95/Year
Accelerateâ„¢ Magazine
This exclusive bimonthly publication is available only to ROK members, and will keep you up-to-date on the latest events, chapter news, benefits and more.
