My Newest Project.

About a month ago I decided to get in touch with Team Oregon to see if they needed any volunteers. A couple of phone calls later and I was signed up in their instructor training program. Believe it or not, if all goes well, I'm going to become a public employee!:woohoo:

So far I've audited two Basic Rider Training courses, which consist of a Friday evening classroom session followed by Saturday and Sunday range and classroom sessions.

I also had to take a riding skills evaluation on Saturday afternoon. The exercises aren't too difficult but the instructors insist they be done precisely. I passed but with nothing like flying colors.

At this point things will slow down. I've got an interview sometime before the end of the year and I've got to get a first aid certification.

The real Instructor Preparation doesn't get started till next March after which I'll be an apprentice for a couple of classes and an intern for a couple more classes before I become an accredited safety instructor. I'm pretty sure that there are several levels above that, we'll see how much time I'll be able to invest.

I'm pretty jazzed, I was willing to volunteer, I never realized that the Team Oregon instructors were Department of Transportation employees.
Me, a public employee:lol:

I'm pretty sure I won't qualify for a P.E.R.S. account.

You're not feeding a the deep trough till you qualify for P.E.R.S.

Good on ya. I took the Experienced Rider Course last spring and learned a lot. And I always recommend to new riders that they take the Beginner's Course.
