My Adventure
26 Oct 2008 18:54
So today I had a nine hour adventure. I drove out to central Newfoundland and bought a CB400 Hawk. I paid $100 for it!! And its in really good condition except for a counter balance chain that's out. And to top it all off, when I got there I took it apart and stuffed it in my VW Golf, took me 30 minutes to get it apart enough to get in!

Central Newfoundland??? ...that's sort of bigger than the $100 Hawk in my book.
So, got pics of the newest little addition to the stable...preferrably out of the VW!

Sold an Alis Chalmers tractor on Craig's this summer. Two guys showed up in a Mazda B2000. They sat in the shade and took it apart put it in the bed and sent sparks flying from the bumper dragging on the bottom of the driveway. They were going about 200 miles. Never heard from them again but I'd have taken bets they wouldn't make 5 miles before that suspension fell out.

Hilarious Loco, a tractor in a Mazda pickup.
So I put her back together today, and tore down the engine. Most the bottom end has to be replaced, the counterbalance chain and cam chain were exploded by the PO. Luckily theres a cheap bottom end on eBay. So I'm gonna rebuild it and get her going. Other than that the bike's in great shape though.

Nice score on the bike and a great story. Newfoundland is an awesome place. I did the same thing when I bought my kz1000, about 10 hrs one way. Except I brought it home in a truck. Then, this spring I picked up my gpz750, about 7 hrs one way. I jammed that bike into my ford escort.
