For you electrical gurus... why would the original four batteries only last 800-1000 miles and be in need of replacement?

That's what I was wondering.
The batteries were probably on their way out,in the first place?

I think the problem you would be having with the batteries is heat.
If his range is 30 miles at 55 mph, that's appoximately a 560 amp/hour discharge he's laying on. Or look at it this way... each 72 amp/hour battery is being fully discharged in 30 minutes, so that's an average draw of 140 amps on each battery! And it's not intermittent heavy draws, that just an all out drain from full to daed. And if he's recharging at even a 10th that rate, that's still a 56 amp charge cycle. Whoah!

My next door neighbor is converting a Ninja with a blown motor to electric. He has all the parts except the batteries, and has just been waiting for time to put it all together. He's got a lot of money to burn, so he's going top shelf on everything.

I forgot what type of batteries he said he was going to use, but I remember that he said they would cost about $6000-8000--just for the batteries.

I hope they last him longer than 800-1000 miles.

Oh, and I hope his bike looks a little better than this one. :side:

"Alternative Energy" is a hobby of his. His house is equipped with solar "everything" on his roof. He has a rain collection system to irrigate his garden. Low-power lighting and appliances throughout his house. It's really pretty cool, actually.
