My 650 took a nosedive.

Yesterday the wife and me take off on a nice ride on a clear blue sky day and stop at a King Soopers grocery store for a drink. All of a sudden we see this "hurricane" heading into town. We wait out the 70mph winds and rain in the store for a while. It starts clearing up and we get the dreaded "will whoever owns the motorcycle please come to the customer service desk". I think I can't possibly be the only motorcycle here, but we go up there and they are all in a panic ready to call the fire dept because a motorcycle was upside down leaking gas all over the parking lot. Sure enough, we go outside and find my motorcycle nearly upside down. My wife locked her 3 week old helmet on the lock, the motorcycle was hit by a 50mph shopping cart caught by the wind on a downhill grade and pushed forward off the sidestand, falling on it's side and rolling completely over my wifes helmet so the rear wheel was suspended at about a 45 degree angle up in the air. Leaked out nearly the entire tank of gas. I stand the bike up, see no damage to speak of other than my wife's Shoie helmet is now a hoie. They check out the security camera coverage and see the whole thing in vivid color. To top this off I was so flustered I get on the highway heading the wrong way for 25 miles before I'm smart enough to realize I'm going the wrong way and have to turn around. One of them days.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

you have to get a copy of that tape!! Years from now no one will believe the story...but you will have the film to prove it!

::edit:: Oh yeah Ron, good luck getting everything back into shape, I am sure something must have been damaged in all that excitement!

I wish I would have at least taken a picture of it upside down. Apparently the helmet took the brunt of the impact. The only damage I saw was additional scrapes on the already scraped up stator cover and scratches on the clutch lever ball. This was a $150 motorcycle, so a few scratches added is no big deal.

Oww!
Shounds like the helmet kept the bike from scraping.
Can't belive that the helmet didnt crack a side panel or
something.

My Nissan P/U truck got hit by a shopping cart while I was in it.
I was parked at the edge of the Petsmart lot, at the bottom of a
slight grade. I was looking out the left window, and WHAM!
Something hits my right door. Hard. Rocked the truck. But
there's nothing there. When I got out and looked, there was
the shopping cart, laying on it's side, and there's a good sized
dent in my door. Damn thing must have been doin' 40.
Had to have travled in a pretty straight line to nail me...
probably the only cart in the parking lot that would go straight
by itself.
