Friend of mine bought a KZ1000P

It's supposed to be a 1981, but it doesn't have the J motor in it. Still has a kick starter. Motor looks exactly like my '80 LTD's, right down to the carbs. Great shape, no leaks anywhere, chrome exhaust looks brand new, except for a little of the usual blueing. Can't find any rust anywhere on it. Still has all the cop electronics, lights siren. But the radio box was replaced with a Vetter cargo box.
Odometer says it only has 11k on it.
Has new sprocket and 530 oring chain.
Anybody know where we can find more info on it?

Thanks Steell
Was just looking at some specs for the J model and was surprised to learn they used the 998 cylinder block and pistons.
Gonna have to look at my friends to see if his is a 1015 like my 80 LTD.
When we went to pick it up another friend of ours took him by car. That way me and him could ride together on the way back.
Sure enough, I brought my Murphy luck along with us.
He blew a fuse fifteen miles from where he bought it.
At that point, my friend was not a happy camper.
Scavenged another fuse into it which got us to a truck stop where he bought some more fuses.
Then we found out the fuse that blew was a 15 amp where a 20 should have been. We put a 20 in there and it hasn't blown since, so, so far it looks like that was the problem and not a short somewhere.
Now he's a real happy camper.
